And the winner is…320 Poplar Point Drive.

On Saturday January 28th, 2017, were the annual Tommie Awards. One home gets the coveted Grand Tommie award of “Home of the Year”. Not only did 320 Poplar Point Drive win Gold for Home of the Year but they also won Gold for Excellence in Single Family Detached putting the award winning home on the map for Luxury homes in Kelowna.

This one of a kind waterfront home is worthy of it’s title of Home of the Year. Extensive planning went into the creation of this spectacular Kelowna property offering 5000sq.ft of luxurious living space perched above the waters of Lake Okanagan.

The owners of this award winning home in Kelowna were involved in the day to day creation of this masterpiece and when asked what inspired them, they commented,

“We lived on the property in this little waterfront beach house for over a year before we started the build.”

A vision for the home was to look as though it was floating on water.  With the use of steel beams and creative architecture, the home hovers over the shores of Lake Okanagan allowing the illusion of this amazing structure floating on the lake below.

“We wanted to study everything; views from different vantage points, the land, the mountains, the water and the sun setting each season in order to create the perfect waterfront home” comments Norman the resident architect.

The project was 3 years in the making with every detail meticulously planned to create this one of kind waterfront home.  This award winning home in Kelowna is listed as a turn key property including furniture, art and accessories which were all hand picked for each space.  Listing agent Quincy Vrecko comments,

“It’s not just an amazing waterfront home, it’s a lifestyle, it’s the whole package”

From furniture to finishing’s only the best, highest quality materials were chosen for this award winning home. The furniture was custom made for each space.  From built-in walnut cabinetry in the office to the accent pieces built with wood and steel to accent each other. The original art was picked and hung by the curator of Sopa Art Gallery.  Every piece complements the space and finish of every room.

Top of the line technology allows the homeowner to control the entire home with the touch of a button.  Set lighting, control sound and even adjust the sun shades with the ease of a smartphone from home of afar.

“This is my favorite part of the home” says Wallace referring to the master suite, “we really wanted to make sure the exact position of this room to point in the direction that had the best views to wake up and fall asleep to”

This award winning home is also equipped with a custom-built 270 wine bottle cellar which was the last detail of the home to make it complete.  It was important to the home owners to get it perfect and when faced with obstacles taking design to build, they searched until they found the right person to make it happen.  “I was told it couldn’t be done” says Wallace “but I knew there was a way, I wanted it to be perfect”.

The outdoor living space sprawls over 2000 square feet and continues down the water’s edge.  To capture the essence of Okanagan outdoor living there are multiple lounging spaces for every time of day.

The upper deck just off the dining room, floats about the water and is shaded by an automatic slat above that change direction as the sun moves as well as a see through wind shield if it gets breezy.

Down below is a cooler covered deck when looking for a retreat from the summer sun.  This area has comfy loungers and built-in television you will never want to leave.  Across from the lounge is a built in bar for smaller intimate get togethers with friends.

Soak in the sun and take in the view on the loungers in the Zen like patio with water feature behind taking you into deep relaxation.  The sunken hot tub has sound wired throughout the pergola above.  As the sun goes down, this area is transformed into an entertainer’s paradise with fire pit and roll away custom furniture to set up any party.
