The South Pandosy Neighbourhood is a beautiful well-established neighborhood between Okanagan Lake and Gordon Ave in Kelowna. This area services the Kelowna General Hospital and features many historic homes as it is one of the older neighborhoods in Kelowna. The older neighbourhoods bring lots of charm and character and the Hospital attracts Doctors, nurses and young professionals to the area. As a result, many doctors offices and health services are located in this area.
One of the main attractions to South Pandosy is the shopping district along Pandosy Street that switches to Lakeshore drive at KLO Rd. The street names can be a little confusing in this part of town as many change names from one side of the street to the other. With the steady growth in Kelowna comes a lot of development and South Pandosy has not been forgotten. The City has recently rezoned many single-family homes to an RU6 or RU7 designation which allows for a carriage home or secondary homes to be built on a property. This is sparking a trend in infill building as many of these big inner-city properties are being bought and converted to accommodate 2 to 4 family homes. This infill building provides a higher density in this area which is something the city planners are wishing for. One of the main reasons for this is the area being central to everything and just minutes away from great beaches, shopping, parks and recreation, and the downtown.
South Pandosy is also home to some of the better lakefront and waterfront homes in the area. These were once older homes on lakefront property but have been steadily converted to the luxury waterfront as the old homes are replaced with luxury homes ranging in price to over $3,000,000. Some townhome and condominium developments are also underway with Sopa Square close to completion and several new developments underway like Gyro Beach at Richter Rd and Lakeshore Rd.
With fantastic beaches at Boyce – Gyro Beach, Rotary Beach and Kinsman Park and the Mission Creek Greenway at the south end of the neighborhood there are lots to do for the fun-loving crowd. Cycle paths are also well established in this area.
