As one of the biggest economic engines in the city, The University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) Campus continues to grow and influence the region. This includes the surrounding neighborhoods. A building boom is underway for condominium homes just south of the main campus on Academy Way. Plans are also for future residential development that will provide a mix of sizes and prices.
The University District will also benefit from the Road extension from Glenmore Road North on John Hindle Drive. This is currently the new entrance to the Kelowna landfill with plans underway to extend the road directly to UBCO.
Aberdeen Hall is a local k to 12 private school that follows an academic curriculum. The University district is growing with more shops, restaurants, and hotels being built. The businesses district around the airport is also growing fast. Four great golf courses are in the area with Sunset Ranch, Shadow Springs, and the Bear and Quail courses at the Okanagan Golf Club.
Just minutes from the airport and about 15 minutes from the main shopping areas of Kelowna there is a nice mix of residential and Apartment-style homes in the area. Local amenities include Starbucks, Urban Liquor, the 4 Points Sheraton Hotel with its Gulfstream Restaurant, Tim Horton’s, Nester’s Market and a number of other local hangouts.
